Backpacking Laos – Dreaded bus trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang

Time doesnt seem so important when traveling through the countryside of Laos and pick up and arrival times seem even less important. This is my backpacking bus trip from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang in Northern Laos – what I though would be an 8 hour bus trip ended up taking 16 hours.

New travel legislation has been passed by the United States and a new non-profit corporation has been set up in an effort to attract more foreign visitors however this will come at a cost of $10 USD on entry. This begs the question of whether these efforts will attract more foreign visitors or drive them away, I guess time will tell.
