Backpacking Trip to Hawaii in the Summer

Earlier this year in July 2014 I took some well deserved time off with my wife to travel to Hawaii for 3 weeks worth of relaxation mixed with a bit of exploration. I guess you could call this trip a little bit more of a “flashpacker” trip since we were looking to stay in accommodation that included some more of the relaxing luxuries that you don’t often find in backpacker hostels or guest houses.

From Sydney direct to Honolulu the flight took about 10 and 1/2 hours on Hawaiian Airlines which was quite a long trip but certainly not the longest by any stretch . Hawaiian Airlines was quite a good airline, it got us there safely the food and service was good, so no complaints from that side of the trip.

Once we touched down in Honolulu we then caught a short connecting flight out to the island of Maui
